I am a family physician and father of 4 who recently wrote a book titled, Preventing Addiction: What Parents Must Know To Immunize Their Kids Against Drug And Alcohol Addiction. This book reveals new and ground-breaking research that shows that while addiction is not curable, it is preventable. However, drug education programs like D.A.R.E. have proven to be ineffective. The solution lies, instead in critically important parental understanding and parenting techniques.
Also important is the fact there is no clear evidence that addiction is inevitable, random or genetically transmitted. On the other hand one out of ten kids will become addicted by adulthood. Why do kids become addicted to drugs? The answer is simple, it is a failure of parenting. The problem is that most parents who are failing to protect their kids are unaware of this failure and would gladly implement the methods needed, if they only knew more about the problem and it's solutions.
I would like to hear what others have to say on this subject. It is important to me to hear about the experiences of other parents, educators and professionals and even those who suffer from addiction and alcoholism. Also, I would be happy to field questions on this subject and related subjects like ADD, depression, child discipline, building self-esteem in children and moral character.
Parents can get help from the internet. Just go out and buy instant tests and make sure you children know they could be tested at anytime.
If you kids know you will inspect what you expect, they are less likely to fall to the peer pressure and use drugs.
We bought ours from www.1mdllc.com but they can be purchased anywhere.

I agree I buy thc test from http://www.completedrugtestingsolutions.com to test my son after I found some marijuana in his room. Knowing he will be tested keeps him clean.
Thanks
